Letterform Project (2024)
For this project I had to created a logo of either a hardware store or furniture store by selecting a name from a list, then create a design that formed a shape. I chose to create a hardware store logo and the name “Cherrie’s.” The first designs I created, I focused on the “H” as the main element that would have the design. After working on revisions with my teacher, I came up with the above design using a cursive typeface in red to form the handle of the hammer. I chose to use a squared off serif typeface for “hardware” to represent the constructive nature of a hardware store.
How I chose: Cherrie’s Hardware
Beginning the project I was able to select a name from a list of five and choose between hardware or furniture store. The name that I chose was Cherrie’s and I chose a hardware store. I felt that the name sounded the most like a local family hardware store that has been open for a couple of decades.
