Postage Stamp Project (2023)
The goal of this project was to created a postage stamp in the style of the USPS tribute stamp. For this project I utilized photo shop to combine a photo of Ellsworth Kelly, a piece of work created by him and text using a typeface of my choice. After combing the elements I created a sheet of stamps from the design.
Selecting an artist: Ellsworth Kelly
There was a choice of five artists to choose from and in class we were shown each of the artists’ work. I chose Ellsworth Kelly because I liked his simple use of color and shape.
Selecting a Photo
When selecting a photo, I ensure that Ellsworth Kelly was not turned facing away from the camera or that his face was covered by a shadow. These are the three photos I chose to work with.
Selecting a piece of artwork
Next, I chose a piece of artwork that I felt represented the Ellsworth Kellys’ s style the best. I had a couple of choices but ended up selecting _____ because of its use of primary colors and white space.
